GST Collection April 2025: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections reached a record-breaking Rs 2.37 lakh crore in April 2025, a 12.6% year-over-year increase that broke all prior records since the GST was introduced in 2017. This remarkable increase follows last year's April collection of Rs 2.10 lakh crore, greatly outpacing the Rs 1.96 lakh crore collected in March 2025.
The Finance Ministry's data shows domestic transaction revenue increased by 10.7%, from Rs 1.71 lakh crore in April 2024 to Rs 1.9 lakh crore in April 2025. Additionally, the GST on imported goods increased by 20.8% to Rs 46,913 crore from Rs 38,835 crore in the same period the previous year.
Following the deduction of refunds, which increased by 48.3% to Rs 27,341 crore, the net GST revenue was over Rs 2.09 lakh crore, a 9.1% increase over Rs 1.91 lakh crore in April 2024.
Maharashtra Leads in State-wise Collection
Among the states, Maharashtra reported the highest GST contribution, collecting Rs 41,645 crore in April 2025, an 11% increase over Rs 37,671 crore in April of the previous year; Karnataka came in second with Rs 17,815 crore, also representing an 11% increase; Haryana collected Rs 14,057 crore in April.

Consistent Growth in the Past Few Months
In recent months, GST revenue has continuously stayed high, indicating a strong economic momentum:
March 2025: 1.96 lakh crore rupees
February 2025: 1.83 lakh crore rupees
January 2025: 1.95 lakh crore rupees
December 2024: 1.77 lakh crore rupees
November 2024: 1.82 lakh crore rupees
October 2024: 1.87 lakh crore rupees
A positive outlook for the government's fiscal health in the upcoming fiscal year is provided by this record-breaking collection in April 2025, which indicates a consistent improvement in economic activity, compliance, and tax administration.
