Asian Paints’ non-executive director Ashwani Dani passed away at the age of 79 years old, as per media reports.

On June 23, 2021, the Asian Paints board granted approval for the appointment of Deepak Satwalekar as the Chairman of the Board, while confirming that Ashwin Dani would retain his position on the company's board as a non-executive/promoter director.

Under the guidance of Ashwin Dani, Asian Paints underwent global expansion, ultimately establishing itself as a prominent player in the global paint industry. Notably, he pioneered the introduction of a computerized color mixing program in India.

Dani's association with Asian Paints began in 1968, a company originally founded by his father and three others in 1942. He held the position of Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the company from December 1998 to March 2009.

Prior to joining Asian Paints, Dani held a position as a development chemist at Inmont Corp in Detroit, US. 

In addition to his business endeavors, Ashwin was an avid yoga practitioner and had a passion for art collection. According to Forbes, his family's net worth stands at ₹68,000 crore.

Hailing from Mumbai, Dani embarked on his academic journey by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from the Institute of Science at the University of Mumbai. Following this, he pursued a Master's in polymer science at the University of Akron, Ohio, and subsequently achieved a diploma in color science from Rensselaer Polytechnic in Troy, New York.
