Bank Holiday In October: As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, the banks will remain closed in several states between October 6 and 12 due to the upcoming festivals. The banks will remain closed on different dates due to several festivals, including Lakshmi Puja, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, and Karwa Chauth. The calendar suggests that the banks will remain closed on different dates across the country as the holidays vary from state to state. However, the customers will be able to access other banking services such as ATM machines, online banking, and UPI. The RBI has advised the customers to follow the guidelines and plan their bank visits accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
Banks will remain closed on these dates:
- October 6 (Monday)- The banks will remain closed in Odisha due to the Lakshmi Puja.
- October 7 (Tuesday)- Banks will be closed in several states, including Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, and Punjab, due to Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.
- October 9 (Thursday)- While there is no marked holiday in any state, the banks are likely to remain closed in some of the northern states due to Karwa Chauth. It is a festival celebrated by married women for the well-being of their husbands.
Apart from this, the banks are set to remain closed in most of the states on October 21 and 22 due to Diwali and its related festivals, including Govardhan Pooja, Vikram Samvant New Year Day, and Laxmi Puja. The banks will also remain closed on October 28 and 29 in Bihar due to the Chhathh Puja.
Online banking, mobile apps, and ATMs operate as usual even if the banks are closed. However, if you have to visit the bank physically for activities like cheque deposit or cash withdrawal, then you will have to plan your visit on a working day.
