The festive season commenced on October 15 with Shardiya Navratri, and in the coming days, Durga Puja and Dussehra will be observed nationwide. Preceding these, festivities such as Ashtami and Navami are also marked. Consequently, banks will observe holidays during this time.

As per the Reserve Bank of India's schedule, October features a total of 16 bank holidays, encompassing weekends, which fall on Saturdays and Sundays.
There will be holidays for the next several days on Durga Puja and Dussehra, which will be celebrated in the country on October 24. Before this, there will be holidays in different cities on October 21, October 23, October 24, October 25, October 26 and October 27 due to Durga Puja.

October 21 – Durga Puja/Maha Saptami (Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata)
October 23 – Dussehra, Ayudha Puja, Durga Puja, Vijay Dashami (Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram)
October 24 – Dussehra (Banks closed across the country except Hyderabad, Imphal)
October 25 – Durga Puja/Dasai (Gangtok)
October 26 – Durga Puja i.e. Dasai/Accession (Gangtok, Jammu and Srinagar)
October 27 – Durga Puja/Dasai (Gangtok)
October 28 – Lakshmi Puja (Kolkata)
October 31 – Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Ahmedabad)
