Bank Holiday On November 15: India will celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartik Purnima on Friday i.e November 15, 2024. According to the Reserve Bank Of India holiday list, banks in some parts of India will remain closed on this auspicious occasion. The RBI decides holiday list considering regional and national holidays.
Guru Nanak Jayanti 2024
Guru Nanak Jayanti will be celebrated on November 15, this year, marking the birth anniversary of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak. The day is also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab or Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav. Guru Nanak is one of the most recognised and prominent Sikh gurus in the Sikh community.
This holy day is being celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Katak.

The bank will remain closed on November 15 days
Bakes in states including Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed on November 15, 2024 on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Karthika Purnima.
The Reserve Bank of India releases the bank holiday list every year and categorizes these holidays into three categories: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays; and Bank Account Closing Holidays. However, bank holidays vary from state to state, and not all banking institutions adhere to them.
