Are Banks Closed Today: All private and public banks in several states are closed today due to the celebrations of Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi and Onam festivities. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) designates specific days as holidays and publishes a list on its website for public access.
A bank holiday is a regular day when financial institutions are closed for business, which means customers may be unable to perform in-person transactions like withdrawing money or depositing checks.
According to the Gregorian calendar, Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Bara Wafat, falls on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which is today, September 5. It is observed by Muslims nationwide, and many offices and government institutions also remain closed. Onam, a 10-day festival celebrated mainly in Kerala, also concludes today, September 5.

Additionally, each state observes its own local festivals, leading to a variety of bank holidays from one state to another.
It is always advisable to check the RBI website for the holiday list for your specific state or city's bank branch before planning a visit.
