Starlink to start operation in India:  Starlink, the world's richest person Elon Musk's satellite internet company, is expected to get a license to operate in India soon after clearing regulatory checks and tests. The company is expected to bring growth and wider connectivity, especially in remote and rural areas in India.

Elon Musk's Starlink is planning to clarify its shareholding model to promote industry and insider trading, after which it will receive an operating certificate from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), following which, The letter of intent will be sent to telecom secretary Neeraj Mittal and communications minister Ashwani Vaishnav for their approval.
If Starlink get approval from there, then an approval from the Satellite Communication Wing will be needed.

In 2022, Starlink applied for its Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite Services (GMPCS). Once the appeal gets approval, Starlink will become only the third company after Reliance Jio and Oneweb to get this licence in India.

Expected price for Starlink online net service

Depending on its global usage, Starlink typically offers download speeds between 25 and 220 Mbps, while upload speeds range from 5 to 20 Mbps. According to the Starlink website, most users experience download speeds of over 100 Mbps.

In India, internet speed with such speed is not usual through optical fibres in towers, especially in remote areas.

However Starlink has not made any announcement regarding its pricing model yet, but as per a report of the MoneyControl, the service will cost around Rs 1,58,000 in the first year.

Meanwhile, the base price of consumer devices is estimated at ₹37,400, while services are estimated at ₹7,425 per month, Moneycontrol reported. The final price of Starlink will be available only after the service is licensed.
