UAN Activation Deadline: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has again postponed the deadline for linking bank accounts with Aadhaar by implementing the Universal Account Number (UAN). The new deadline is now March 15, 2025, for individuals seeking to benefit from the Employment-Linked Incentives (ELI) program.

The previous deadline was February 15, 2025, but the pension fund system has allowed several extensions to facilitate smooth compliance.

Why is it important to link UAN with Aadhaar?

To avail of the benefits under EPFO’s ELI scheme, employees need to activate their UAN and link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts. This process ensures smooth transactions and accurate delivery of incentives.

How to Activate UAN?

- Log in EPFO Member Portal
- Select the 'Activate UAN' option
- Now you have to enter your UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, Aadhaar number
- Fill in the captcha code
- Now click on 'Get OTP'
- Enter the OTP that is sent to your mobile number
- Now, validate OTP and activate UAN

Understanding the ELI program

The Employment-Linked Incentives (ELI) scheme introduced in the Union Budget 2024-25 aims to facilitate job creation across India. The government has set a target of creating 20 million jobs within two years, thereby increasing employment opportunities across the country.

To avail of cash benefits under this scheme, employees need to activate their UAN and link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts as required by EPFO.

Step-by-step guide for seeding KYC details with UAN

- You have to log into your EPF account on the members portal.
- Next, from the 'Home Page'  select the "KYC" option from the "Manage" section.
- Now, you have to select the details you want to link (PAN, Bank Account, Aadhaar etc).
- Fill in the required information and click "Save".
- Your request will be displayed under "Pending KYC approval".
- Now you have to wait for your employer's approval, once done, the status will change to "Digital Approved by Employer".
- After UIDAI verification, it will show "Verified by UIDAI".

Completing the process before March 15, 2025, can ensure employees have uninterrupted access to benefits provided under the ELI program.
