GOLD prices in India traded flat on Thursday (March 23), with one gram of 22-carat gold costing Rs. 5,420 at the time of writing this story.

The Gold futures, maturing on April 5, 2023, were up 0.84% at 59251.00 on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) at 9:18 am IST. Earlier this week, in India Gold price, reached an all-time high (ATH), as it crossed the crucial Rs.60,000 mark, as the ongoing turmoil in the global financial market drew investors to the safe-haven asset. 

Globally, gold prices traded higher today, after the US Federal Reserve increased interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point in the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on Wednesday. The US central bank hinted that it was on the verge of pausing its rate hike spree in view of recent turbulence in the financial sector.

Spot gold gained 0.2% at $1,972.72 an ounce, as of 0101 GMT, while US gold futures were up 1.3% to $1,974.60.

The price for 10 grams of 24-carat gold in India is Rs 59,130, while the price of the same quantity of 22-carat gold is Rs 54,200.

In the national capital, the Gold rate for 24-carat (10 grams) is Rs. 59,280, while 22-carat (10 grams) is Rs 54,350. The gold price today in Chennai for 24-carat (10 grams) is Rs 59,670, while the 22-carat (10 grams) is Rs 54,700.

Gold Prices in Major Indian Cities on March 23, Thursday: 

The rate of Gold for 24-carat (10 grams) in Kolkata is Rs 59,130, while 22-carat (10 grams) is Rs 54,200.

The price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold in Mumbai at 54,200, and 24-carat gold at Rs. 59,130 is at par with the price of gold in Hyderabad, Kerala, Pune, and Bhubaneswar.

The Gold price for 24-carat (10 grams) in Vadodara is Rs 59,830, while 22-carat (10 grams) is Rs 54,850. It must be noted that the price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold and 24-carat gold in Vadodara is at par with the price of gold in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Surat and Mysore.

Gold price in Chandigarh traded higher today as the price of 24-carat gold (10 grams) in Chandigarh is Rs 59,930 (up Rs. 650 from the previous close), while 22-carat gold (10 grams) is Rs 54,950 (up Rs. 600 from previous close). The price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold and 24-carat gold in Chandigarh is at par with the price of gold in Lucknow, Jaipur, and Noida.

On Thursday, Silver futures, maturing on May 5, 2023, witnessed a jump of Rs 402 or 0.58% and were trading at Rs 69,711 per kg on the MCX.

Meanwhile, spot silver was up 0.2% to $23.06 an ounce today.
