GST Portal Down Today: The GST portal suffered a technical glitch as taxpayers have been experiencing issues in filling GSTR-1. The GST Network posted an update on X, highlighting the problem. Acknowledging the Issue, GST's technical department on Thursday urged taxpayers to have patience as they are fixing the issue.
"GSTN hereby acknowledges the issue being faced regarding GSTR-1 summary generation and its filing. This is to inform you that our team is working on it and same will be fixed shortly. Thanks for your patience," GST Network's social media handle, GST Tech posted on X.
Meanwhile, after taxpayers continued to face problems while filling out, the GST Tech portal, in another post on Friday, said that the people may get an extension on the deadline. The current deadline is set to be over on Saturday.
“Dear Taxpayers! The GST portal is currently experiencing technical issues and is under maintenance. We expect the portal to be operational by noon. The deadline for the December 2024 tax period is January 11, while it is January 13 for the QRMP filers.
Meanwhile, taxpayers are expressing their concern over social media sites with many demanding an extension of the deadline and others seeking the restoration of the site soon to avoid further inconvenience before the deadline.
Tax Pr Ramesh, a user on X, urged officials to resolve the problem soon so that taxpayers can file GST within the deadline.
"GSTR1 filing due date is tomorrow, but the portal has been down since yesterday! With Pongal celebrations starting tomorrow in Tamil Nadu, many taxpayers will be unable to file on time. Please resolve the issue ASAP," posted Tax pr Ramesh
Another user Krishna PP demanded an extension of the deadline to avoid the hassle.
"How will the tax payer file GSTR 7 & #gstr1 if portal is not available. Once #gstportal is back online, due to heavy traffice it will be difficult to file. Kindly provide extension for atleast 5 days," the user on x.
Amit Rathi, another user on X, expressed displeasure over the issue and demanded a timeline for when the portal would be available.
"GST portal is not working since few days and lot of professional time is wasted and still no solution..levy penalty on @Infosys_GSTN and provide relief to taxpayers and give proper timeline for smooth working of portal," said the user.
