Health Insurance Age Restriction: Insurance regulator IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) has removed the age restriction of 65 years for people buying a health insurance plan. It is being done to widen the market and advance adequate security from health care costs. IRDAI's goal behind eliminating the most extreme age limit for buying a health insurance plan is to advance a progressively inclusive and open healthcare ecosystem that guarantees adequate security against unforeseen clinical costs.
According to previous rules, people were permitted to purchase another protection plan just up to the age of 65 years. However, with the new amendment, anybody of any age can buy the new protection plan. This correction becomes effective from 1 April 2024. In a current Gazette notification, IRDAI said that Insurers would guarantee that they offer health insurance items to fulfill the necessities of all age gatherings. Insurers may plan items, particularly for senior residents, understudies, youngsters, maternity, and some other gathering dictated by the capable power.’

Furthermore, insurers have been requested to give health plans to people with pre-existing clinical conditions. Accordingly, insurers are prohibited from declining to issue plans to people with genuine clinical conditions, for example, disease, heart or kidney disappointment, and AIDS. According to the notification, insurers are permitted to offer the office of premium installment in portions for the accommodation of policyholders.
Travel policies can only be offered by general and health insurance firms. The notification states that there is no limit on AYUSH treatment coverage. Treatments under the Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy and Naturopathy, Unani, and Siddha systems will be eligible for coverage up to the sum insured without any restrictions. It further states that policyholders with benefit-based insurance can file multiple claims with different insurers, allowing them greater flexibility and choice.
