Jio IPO News: Jio Platforms Ltd is launching India's biggest-ever Initial Public Offering (IPO), aiming to raise Rs 30,213 crore by selling new shares. With a target valuation of Rs 10.3 lakh crore, the IPO will be open for public bidding from October 21 to 23, 2026. This will make Jio one of India's most valuable companies and will add more billions to Mukesh Ambani's wealth, who is currently the second richest Indian and 21st on Forbes' list of billionaires.
Apart from a mobile network and SIM cards, Jio Platforms has built an interconnected ecosystem designed to fulfil almost every digital need of an ordinary person or business. It includes JioTV for entertainment, MyJioApp for everyday utilities, JioCloud for digital storage, JioFinance for loans and digital banking, JioMeet and JioChat for video conferencing and chats.
All About Mukesh Ambani
To help his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, run the family business, Mukesh Ambani joined Reliance in 1981, leaving Stanford University's MBA program. Rather than managing the corporate headquarters, Mukesh Ambani worked closely with the factory engineers to build the infrastructure from the ground up.
This hands-on training allowed him to expand Reliance from a simple textile trading company into an energy giant focused on petrochemicals and refining. Decades later, he launched Reliance Jio in September 2016, owing to his corporate training and industrial execution skills, and the rest was history.
How Reliance Jio Changed India's Telecom Industry?
Launched in 2016, Reliance Jio completely changed the digital landscape of India. With free voice calls and cheap 4G data, it turned India from a data-starved nation into the world's largest consumer of mobile data, with active smartphone users averaging about 36 GB of data per person every month. For the first time, people living on low incomes or in rural areas could access the internet at affordable rates.
Today, with the use of integrated AI tools, it has evolved even further. Connecting half a billion people, Jio has cemented its place as the digital backbone of India.
Mukesh Ambani Net Worth
As of October 15, 2026, Mukesh Ambani ranks 21st in the list of richest persons in the world, having a net worth of USD 99.8 billion. He is also the second richest Indian on the Forbes list after Gautam Adani and family.
Mukesh Ambani has been recognised globally for his transformative business leadership, philanthropy, and industrial achievements. He has been ranked as the 5th best-performing CEO in the world by the Harvard Business Review. Ambani has been consistently featured in TIME Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people, and he is also an elected Foreign Member of the United States National Academy of Engineering and was honoured with the Global Vision Award by the Asia Society.
How Much Will Mukesh Ambani Earn After USD 3.2 Billion Jio IPO?
Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL), the digital and telecom arm of Reliance Industries, on Wednesday filed its prospectus for an IPO. The IPO is a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares of Rs 10 face value each. The offer opens for subscription on Wednesday, October 21, and closes on Friday, October 23. Anchor investor bidding is on Monday, October 19.
The issue includes two reserved portions - up to Rs 500 crore for eligible JPL employees and up to Rs 2,500 crore for eligible Reliance shareholders, according to the filing. These are individuals and Hindu undivided families (HUFs) who hold Reliance shares as of October 14.
According to the prospectus filed earlier, Jio Platforms said that the proceeds would be used to prepay certain borrowings of its material subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL), and for general corporate purposes, which means that Mukesh Ambani will not earn any cash for himself. Because the Jio IPO is a fresh issue of new shares and not an offer-for-sale of existing shares, all the amount raised through the IPO will go to the company and not to Ambani's personal account.
