THE Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a flagship scheme of the Indian government aimed at supporting landholding farmers by providing income support. Although the administration has not issued any official notification on the release date of the 13th installment, it is likely to be released this week.
This has come as a big positive for lakhs of farmers awaiting the transfer of their funds under this central sector programme.
According to some media reports, the 13th installment of the PM-KISAN Yojna might be transferred on February 24. The central sector scheme offers a cash benefit of Rs 6,000 yearly to all landholding farmer households. This amount is transferred to the bank accounts of farmers in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000.
With all three installments of the current financial year already paid, farmers are likely to receive the next instalment (13th instalment) on Friday.
One must note that there is no official confirmation concerning the release of the 13th installment of PM-KISAN.
Interestingly, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme completes 4 years on February 24. And this is probably the reason why some media reports suggest that the release date of the 13th Installment of PM-KISAN is February 24.
Earlier, on October 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred more than Rs 16,000 crores to over 10 lakh eligible farmers under this flagship scheme. The farmers entitled to receive their 13th installment were mandated to update the e-KYC by February 10, 2023.
As per the new rules, only those eligible farmers will receive their fourth installments who have got e-KYC done. The scheme was launched in 2019.
