The Indian equity benchmarks wrapped up in a higher note for the week, after closing in red for two days straight,. At close, the Sensex was up 480.57 points or 0.74% at 65,721.25, and the Nifty was up 135.30 points or 0.70% at 19,517. 

Biggest gainers on the Nifty were Cipla, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Bharti Airtel, while losers were SBI, Bajaj Auto, BPCL, NTPC and Maruti Suzuki. Among sectors, Pharma and Information Technology index up 1% each, and bank, capital goods and metal added 0.5% each.

About 2177 shares advanced, 1296 shares declined, and 139 shares unchanged. BSE midcap and smallcap indices added 0.6% each.

The market had also opened in green in the early morning session on Friday. Sensex was up 257.05 points or 0.39% at 65,497.73, and the Nifty was up 81.10 points or 0.42% at 19,462.80.

Cipla, Wipro, LTIMindtree, HCL Tech were the top gainers at NSE today in the morning, while Bajaj Auto, Power Grid Corp, Hero Motocorp, BPCL and Tata Motors were the top losers in Friday’s trading session.

On the other hand, Indian Rupee ended 11 paise lower at 82.84 per dollar on Friday against Thursday's close of 82.73. The domestic currency had opened flat at 82.74 per dollar on Friday morning.
