Stock Market: BSE's benchmark Sensex hit a new all-time high in early trade on Friday amid heavy buying in IT stocks and a rally in global markets. The BSE Sensex rose 119.38 points to a record high of 85,955.50 points. The NSE Nifty rose 34.5 points to 26,250.55.

Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Steel were the top gainers among the 30 Sensex companies.

Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, and Mahindra & Mahindra were also among the laggards. In Asian markets, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong traded higher, while Seoul was lower. U.S. markets ended in positive territory on Thursday.

Foreign institutional investors turned buyers by purchasing equities worth Rs 629.96 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data. Domestic institutional investors also purchased equities worth Rs 2,405.12 crore.

Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell 0.24 per cent to US$71.43 a barrel.

The BSE benchmark jumped 666.25 points, or 0.78 per cent, to an all-time high of 85,836.12 on Thursday. Intraday, it rose 760.56 points, or 0.89 per cent, to a record high of 85,930.43.

The Nifty rose 211.90 points, or 0.81 per cent, to close at a record high of 26,216.05. During the day, it rose 246.75 points or 0.94 per cent to a fresh intra-day lifetime high of 26,250.90.
