Stock Market Today: The domestic equity indices started the first session of the week flat on Monday, with Sensex trading 71.53 points down to 82,555.23 in early trade, while Nifty dropped 11.95 points to 25,459.15.
The investors' sentiment remained cautious after the heavy sell-off in IT stocks last week.
At the time of writing, Sensex was trading at 82,652.72, up 25.96 points or 0.03 per cent, while Nifty50 was doing business at 25,458.30, up 12.80 points or 0.05 per cent.
"Indian markets opened lower on a cautious note, with sentiment primarily weighed down by continued weakness in the IT sector. Persistent selling in technology stocks — driven by global concerns around AI-led disruption, automation risks to traditional software and services models, and reduced earnings visibility — has pressured the broader indices," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
Top Losers: Infosys, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, SBI, Titan, Hindustan Unilever, Ultratech Cement, BEL, and Relinece were the top losers from the Sensex basket.
Top Gainers: PowerGrid, HDFC Bank, NTPC, Trent, Eterna,l and ITC were trading high in the early hours.
Meanwhile, the Indian currency fell by 1 paisa to 90.67 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday due to a slight increase in global crude oil prices and a sharp fall in India's foreign exchange reserves.
