THE INDIAN benchmark indices closed lower for the seventh straight day on Monday (February 27). The key equity indices Sensex and Nifty50 dropped sharply as rising fears over further interest rate hikes by the US central bank left investors anxious globally. Meanwhile, for domestic cues, investors are awaiting key India GDP data due Tuesday.
The benchmark Nifty slipped below a key long-term average intraday for the very first time in more than four months as traders gathered clues on the Federal Reserve being hawkish in the upcoming months. The Nifty 50 index shed 73 points to end at 17,392 points.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex edged 0.30% lower to end at 59,288 points. The 50-share NSE index slipped below the 200-day moving average (DMA) of 17,376.21 intraday for the first time since early October. Coming to sectoral performance, barring bank and realty, all sectoral indices closed lower today.
Barring Adani ports, almost all of Adani group shares remained under heavy selling pressure today, where Adani Enterprises, Adani Transmission, Adani Green Energy and Adani Total Gas were among the worst-hit stocks.

At an issue price of Rs. 36 per share the SVJ Enterprises Ltd IPO opened for public subscription on February 23, 2023. The IPO close date is set as February 28, 2023.
Top Gainers And Losers In Today’s Trade:
The top five gainers in today’s trade include RHI Magnesita India Ltd.(up 7.76%), Sanofi India Ltd.(5.88%), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(3.49%), and Crisil Ltd.(2.82). The biggest losers which contributed to today’s losses in the broader market were Adani Enterprises Ltd. (9.74%) Jindal Saw Ltd. (7.52%), MphasiS Ltd. (6.77%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (6.65%), and Mahindra CIE Automotive Ltd. (6.46%).
Crypto Market Today:
February 27, 2023, turned out to be a bullish day for the crypto market as the price of popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Solana, Binance and Ethereum traded in gain today.
The global crypto market cap gained 1.08% today at $1.07 Trillion. The world’s largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin was up 1.05% at USD$23,416.84.
While Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization gained 2.72% at the USD$1,642.14 mark.
