TCS CEO K Krithivasan recently stated that the company's decision to lay off around 12,000 employees is due to a skill mismatch within its workforce, particularly in middle and senior management, rather than widespread job displacement by AI automation. He clarified in a recent report that while TCS is investing heavily in AI and preparing its organization for the future, the job cuts are primarily a result of the company's inability to effectively place employees whose skills no longer align with upcoming projects and new operational models.

K Krithivasan: His Leadership at TCS

K Krithivasan, also known as Krithi, became the CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on June 1, 2023. He has been in the tech industry for over 30 years and has gained considerable experience.

His leadership has become a hallmark for TCS, guiding it to success and establishing it as a key player in the industry. In fact, in 2024, TCS became the second most valuable IT services providing brand globally under his leadership.

Krithivasan strongly believes in helping customers and fostering understanding among employees. Because of this commitment, TCS was named "Global Top Employer 2024."

Krithivasan's Background and Achievements

Before assuming the top job, he was in charge of the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) division at TCS, where he was very successful. Krithivasan has been a long-time TCS employee, having joined in 1989, and has held many important leadership roles within the company.

He holds mechanical engineering and industrial management engineering degrees from IIT Kanpur. In 2024, Krithivasan was bestowed with the Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT Kanpur for his work in technology entrepreneurship.
