JE Sports Desk:  India's last ICC trophy came in 2013 when India defeated the hosts England in the final to clinch the Champions Trophy title at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

It's been a long while now since the Indian team and their fans have tasted the joy of ICC silverware.

Social media platforms have been flooded with photos and videos of India’s 2013 Champions Trophy squad lifting their second such title after an 11-year hiatus.

With this victory, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win all ICC trophies available to win back then. He had led India to T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup triumphs in 2007 and 2011 respectively.

India after winning both of their warm-up matches against Australia and Sri Lanka kicked off their campaign against South Africa in Cardiff.

Skipper Dhoni took a gamble to rope in Rohit Sharma as the other opener alongside Shikhar Dhawan, a decision that went on to change the fortunes of both Rohit and the Indian team forever.

India after beating their Group B mates South Africa, West Indies, and arch-rivals Pakistan convincingly in the group stage was set to take on Sri Lanka in the semifinal.

The Men in Blue defeated Sri Lanka in Cardiff by eight wickets to set up a thrilling final against the hosts England.

After a long and frustrating delay due to rain, the match was set to be a 20-over fixture. Alastair Cook after winning the toss decided to bowl first on the overcast conditions at Edgbaston and successfully restricted India to a low total of 129/7 in their 20 overs.

Virat Kohli (43) and Ravindra Jadeja (33*) put up a crucial 47-run stand for the sixth wicket to take their team to a fighting total.

Chasing the target, England were struggling at once for 46/4 before Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara stitched a much-needed 64-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Dhoni once again took a gamble to bring Ishan Sharma back who had a disappointing outing with the ball so far.

But the pacer dismissed both Morgan and Bopara in the same over to set up the thriller before England were restricted to 124/8.

India registered a famous victory to clinch another silverware on English soil.

Shikhar Dhawan won the golden bat and was named as the player of the tournament for his 363 runs in the five matches including two centuries while Ravindra Jadeja won the golden ball for picking up the most wickets (12) in the tournament.
