Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his disappointment regarding Bangladesh's performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The Bangladeshi team faced a heavy defeat against South Africa on October 24, losing by a significant margin of 149 runs. The match was held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, known for its batting-friendly pitches.

Chopra, who has now become a renowned cricket analyst, took to the social media platform to voice his criticism. He lamented that despite being a Test-playing nation for over two decades, Bangladesh continues to underperform on the global stage. "Bangladesh remains one of the most 'underperforming' teams in the cricket world. Period," he wrote, expressing his frustration over the team's lackluster performance.

The former opener's assessment of Bangladesh's performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 reflects the disappointment felt by many fans and cricket experts as the team has not lived up to its potential in the tournament.

"Admire the passion with which their fans follow the game but the results are annoying pedestrian for a country that became a Test Playing nation two decades ago!!!" he added.

Bangladesh has often shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled with consistency on the global stage. While the passion of their fans is unquestionable, the team must translate that support into better results in international competitions.

The match against South Africa was a clear example of missed opportunities and a need for improvement. As they continue their World Cup campaign, Bangladesh will aim to address their shortcomings and aim for more convincing victories to regain confidence and perform at a higher level.
