India's veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has criticised former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq after he questioned Arshdeep Singh's reverse swing action in the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup. Post their Super 8 match against Australia, Inzamam said that it can be really hard for a bowler to bowl reverse swing in the 14th or 15th over itself.
Skipper Rohit Sharma was adjudged the Player of the Match award but Arshdeep Singh too was praised for taking three important wickets of David Warner, Tim David and Mathew Wade. Due to his brilliant spell, the Men in Blue were able to defend the mammoth target of 205 runs and won the match by 24 runs. During an interaction on Shubhankar Mishra's You tube channel Shami reacted on the whole incident.
"I have said in an interview that I will cut the ball and show if there is a device or not. Abhi ek aur namuna khod ke dia hai inhone. They said, 'How can Arshdeep Singh get reverse swing?' I want to say only one thing to Inzamam bhai. I respect him a lot. If you do the same thing, isn't it ball-tampering? Those who do well against them, will be their target. India and Pakistan are arch-rivals," Shami was quoted as saying on Shubhankar Mishra's you tube channel.

These statements are there to fool people
Shami has also urged these former cricketers to not misguide the fans by making such statements. He also came in support of Wasim Akram, who said that these balls doesn't include any devices and that no one really takes undue advantage.
"I don't expect that despite being ex-players you can say such thing. Even Wasim Akram said how umpires give you the ball and it is not possible to plant any device in it. This type of cartoongiri is not good. These statements are there to fool people," he further said.
Arshdeep performed brilliantly in the mega-event and was also India's second highest wicket-taker as he took 17 wickets under his kitty after playing in eight matches at an economy of 7.61. He also took a four-fer in their group stage match against USA.
