Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed found himself at the center of controversy after his recent Instagram post, which appeared to mock Indian fans by referencing the Abhinandan Varthaman incident. In the post, Abrar shared a picture of himself dressed in green and white attire, holding a cup of tea, with the caption: “Last cup of fantastic evening tea” before the start of Ramadan fasting. The caption, however, didn’t sit well with Indian fans, who were quick to troll him online.

Story Behind The Phrase:

The phrase “Tea is fantastic” originates from a 2019 incident, when Indian fighter pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan after a dogfight following India’s Balakot airstrike. A video released by Pakistan showed Abhinandan sipping tea and remarking that it was “fantastic,” a line that has since been used by Pakistanis as meme material.

As a result of this post, Abrar got trolled left, right and centre with reactions from Indian fans.

Pakistan’s performance in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has added to their woes. After suffering consecutive defeats against New Zealand and India, their final group-stage match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was washed out. With just one point from three games, Pakistan exited the tournament without a single win—a huge disappointment for the host nation.

Meanwhile, India has already secured a semi-final spot, thanks to dominant wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan. They are currently facing New Zealand in their last group match in Dubai.

Interestingly, the venue for the Champions Trophy 2025 final will depend on India’s progress. If India reaches the final, it will be played in Dubai. However, if they fail to make it, Pakistan will host the title clash along with one of the semi-finals.
