MS Dhoni's four-ball cameo played a deciding role in Chennai Super Kings' 20-run win over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 clash at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Dhoni smashed three consecutive sixes off Hardik Pandya in the final over to take CSK's total to 206/4.

After losing the encounter, Mumbai Indians captain Pandya was at the receiving end of former India legend Sunil Gavaskar who termed his bowling and captaincy 'ordinary'.

According to the former India captain, MI should have restricted the CSK under 190 but Pandya's last over added 26 runs to the visitor's scoreboard studded with a hat-trick of sixes from Dhoni.

“One six is fine. The next one again a length ball when you know that this batter is looking for a length ball to hit. The third ball again, a full toss on the leg side and he’s looking for it and hits it for a six. Absolutely ordinary bowling, ordinary captaincy. I do believe the CSK team should have been restricted for 185 or 190,” Gavaskar told the host broadcaster during his analysis in the mid-innings break.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also questioned Pandya's death bowling skills and lack of trust in Akash Madhwal.

“Hardik Pandya bowling the last over showed the lack of faith on Akash Madhwal’s bowling and his own lack of skill as a death over bowler," Pathan tweeted.

With four wins in six matches, CSK are comfortably sitting at third spot while MI are reeling at eighth place with two wins in six games.
