Young Nepal bowler Yuvraj Khatri suffered a freak injury while celebrating a wicket during his team's encounter against Bangladesh in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024.

Khatri put up a spectacular display against Bangladesh, picking four wickets from his 6 overs. However, the celebration of Rizan Hossain's wicket landed Khatri in agony.

During the match, Khatri imitated South Africa bowler Tabraiz Shamsi's shoe celebration and followed it up with  Imran Tahir's running after bagging his fourth wicket.

In the 28th over of the match, an overenthusiastic Khatri started jumping around and eventually twisted his ankle. Khatri immediately fell to the ground, clutching his left foot, withering in pain. In just a matter of seconds, Khatri's joy turned big concern for the Nepal team.

Kahtri could not walk and had to be carried out of the ground by his teammate. Meanwhile, Nepal ended up losing the match as Bangladesh easily chased down the target with five-wicket in hand.

Notably, this is not the first time a player was injured while celebrating a wicket. Australia pacer Jhye Richardson also suffered an injury while celebrating a wicket.
