IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians have roped in ex-India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey to their coaching staff on Wednesday. The five-time IPL champions revealed that Mhambrey would be working along with bowling coach Lasith Malinga in the next season. Mhambrey would be making a comeback to MI after a successful campaign with the Men in Blue.

Mhambrey, who was part of the T20 World Cup coaching staff, had worked closely with Dravid for the last few years and is considered one of the most sorted bowling coaches.

The franchise announced that Lasith Malinga would still be working with the bowlers and that Mhambrey would be helping them along with him. This news was made official just a week after Mahela Jayawardene returned to Mumbai Indians as their head coach for the next season. The ex-Sri Lanka skipper, who played a huge role in helping them lift the titles, came in place of Mark Boucher, who was the head coach of the team in 2022 and 2023.

"He will work alongside current Bowling Coach Lasith Malinga, as part of the coaching team under Head Coach, Mahela Jayawardene. He has been a part of the Mumbai Indians coaching team earlier as well, celebrating title wins in the IPL and the Champions League T20," a statement released by the franchise said.

Paras Mhambrey has represented the country in two Tests and three ODIs, ever since he made his debut in 1996. He took five wickets in international cricket. He also represented Mumbai in domestic cricket, where he played in 91 first-class matches and took 284 wickets, and then played in 83 List-A matches, where he took 111 wickets.

He had been a part of this franchise previously also as he was the assistant coach in 2010. His vast experience of being the bowling coach would help the franchise as it aims to bounce back after a disastrous stint in 2024.
