In a moment of pure comedy during the third and final India-Afghanistan T20 International, skipper Rohit Sharma added a touch of humor to the game as he engaged in a funny exchange with umpire Virender Sharma.
Rohit, who had faced two consecutive ducks in the earlier matches of the series, found himself in a bizarre situation early in the innings. Guiding a delivery from Fareed Ahmad down the leg side, he believed he had finally broken his run of ducks and scored his first runs of the series.
However, to his dismay, the umpire signaled leg-byes instead of acknowledging the ball making contact with the bat. Rohit, stranded on 0 and eager to open his account in the series, was quick to share his frustration with the umpire. In a hilarious incident, he was heard telling Virender Sharma that the decision to award a thigh pad boundary instead of recognizing the bat had extended his wait to get off the mark.
"Viru thigh pad diya kya pehla ball, itna bada bat laga hai bhai, already mera 2 zero ho gaya hai" (Viru, did you give the 1st ball as thigh pad, it clearly touched the bat. I already have two zeroes in the series). Check out the video here:

"Hey Viru, did you give the 1st ball as thigh pad - It clearly touched the bat. I have already dismissed for 0 twice". (Big smile) #INDvsAFGpic.twitter.com/Aoa0yyRvd2
Despite the early setback, Rohit Sharma went on to lead a remarkable fightback for India. Displaying his class and composure, he crafted a record-setting fifth T20I century off just 64 balls. This exceptional innings not only showcased his ability to anchor the team but also marked his return to T20Is after a hiatus of 14 months.
Rohit's unbeaten knock of 121 off 69 balls, which included 11 fours and 8 sixes, was a stellar performance, rescuing India from a precarious position at 22/4. This century was not only his highest score in T20Is but also his first century in all T20 cricket since January 2019.
