JE Sports Desk:  Former England captain Nasser Hussain has issued a warning for Ben Stokes and Co that they cannot only depend on their captain to bail them out of trouble every single time.

Hussain has expressed his disappointment and slammed the other English players for their carelessness to leave Stokes alone with no assistance from any other batter at the other end.

The player-turned-commentator has been one of the major criticisers of the England team in the ongoing Ashes series against Australia for their disappointing brand of cricket, having been already 2-0 down in the series.

Hussain continued to take on the English players and the mode of their dismissals in the third Test at Headingley and also throughout the series.

"There's a bloke at the other end who can change the course of a game if you stay with him," Hussain told Sky Sports Cricket. "If you just keep hooking and get out, he's left scrambling with the tail and having a swipe.

"The moment the plan changes [from Australia] you have to change with the plan. There aren't only two options hook and get out or fend it and get out, the other option is to let it go over your head. We saw it at Lord's. Learn from your mistakes - they're not learning from their mistakes."

He also urged the hosts to adapt to the changing plans and explore other options, rather than sticking to the same unsuccessful techniques.

During the second day of the Test match, England found themselves in a bothering situation at 142-7, still 116 runs behind Australia's first-innings total. Stokes, who also has been the flag bearer for England's 'Bazball' brand of approaching Test cricket, played yet another masterclass innings to bail his team out of trouble.

The star all-rounder played a knock of 80 runs to remember including six fours and five sixes to help England close in on the deficit as it remained just 26 before they were bowled out for 237 runs.

Stokes has already etched his name in Headingley's history with his unbeaten 135 during the 2019 Ashes, where England chased down a record fourth-innings target of 362 to defeat Australia.
