Ashes 2025: Australia's star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood's dreams of playing in the ongoing Test series have been dealt a blow. He is suffering from Achilles soreness, which he sustained in rehab while recovering from a hamstring injury, which forced him to stay out of action for the first two matches.

Cricket Australia has released a statement which revealed that it wasn't a major issue and that Hazlewood can begin bowling from next week. He is racing against time to be fully fit for the next Test match in Adelaide, which will be held later this month, and his participation for the rest of the series remains doubtful.

“Josh Hazlewood reported Achilles soreness this week during his rehabilitation from a recent hamstring injury. It is a low-grade issue, and he is expected to recommence running and bowling next week," a statement released by Cricket Australia said.

Hazlewood had sustained the hamstring injury while representing Victoria in the Sheffield Shield. He was seen training for a while in a training session ahead of the ongoing Test in Brisbane, as he was supposed to join the national team here.

His career has been hampered by injuries, with new ones emerging after big ones. After 2022, side strains, calf and Achilles issues, and most recently hamstring troubles have affected his career and have forced him to miss lots of home Test series and big matches.

Mitchell Starc's bowling prowess has ensured that they don't miss the services of both Josh and Pat Cummins. They had won the series opener by eight wickets, where Starc took a 10-fer.

In the ongoing Test match, they had snubbed Nathan Lyon and had included 4 fast bowlers like Michael Neser, Scott Boland, and Brendan Doggett along with Starc. They skittled the visitors out for 334 runs, where Starc took a six-for yet again.

Cummins was supposed to play this match, but he was given rest again to be fully fit and will be leading the team from the front in Adelaide.
