Ashes 2025: Australia skipper Pat Cummins has begun bowling for a long duration by taking a small run-up and is trying to make a comeback in the second Ashes Test match against England. The day-night match will be held in Brisbane next month.
Cummins has stayed out of action since July owing to an injury and was thus ruled out of the first Test match, which will be held in Perth. Steve Smith will be leading the side in Cummins's absence.
Scott Boland will be replacing Pat Cummins in Australia's playing XI for the series opener, but Cummins is quite hopeful of bowling in the pink ball Test at the Gabba.

“We’re building our plan towards the second Test. It’s not until you get closer that you know your condition, but I’m recovering well and my body feels great. We’re keeping the second Test as an option. I’ll have a good bowl in Perth, and then I’ll know where I stand", Cummins told reporters on Thursday.
Cummins, who has performed consistently for the host in this Test series ever since he made his debut way back in 2017, admitted that there's no clarity about his role in this series.
“I don’t want to commit too early. I’m eager to play as much as possible. Realistically, if I have a big game and bowl 40 or 50 overs, and then there’s another game a few days later, it might be too much. I’m working to get fit and hope to play most of the series," he added.
The third Test will be held in Adelaide, and the 4th match will be played in Melbourne after 4 days, and the fifth Test match will be played in Sydney.
The host has already revealed the team for the series opener, which has the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Boland, Sean Abbott, and Brendan Doggett.
