Ashes 2025-26: Australia stand-in skipper Steve Smith continued his love affair with the Sydney Cricket Ground as he guided Australia to 567 in the first innings of the ongoing fifth Test on Wednesday. On Day 3, Smith registered a majestic 37th Test ton, which helped him complete 5000 international runs against England. He also surpassed legendary Don Bradman's tally of 5028 runs to become the highest run-scorer against England.
Notably, Bradman achieved this feat in just 63 innings of 37 Tests, while Smith took 122 innings in 90 matches. The 37-year-old's tally now stands at 5094 as he stands at the top of the list, which consists of other legendary players such as Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Smith's crafty knock saw its end after Josh Tongue got him nicked off, ending a 107-run eighth-wicket partnership with allrounder Beau Webster. Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland failed to put any more resistance as England wrapped up the innings quickly.

Jacob Bethell Leads England Fight Back
Jacob Bethell struck an unbeaten half-century in the second innings that helped the visitors to move closer to wiping off the 183-run lead against Australia in the ongoing fifth and final Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Wednesday.
At Tea on Day 4, England reached 179/3 in 41 overs, still trailing by nine runs. Jacob Bethell (79 off 132 balls, including 10 fours) and Harry Brook (24 off 22 deliveries, with the help of three fours) were unbeaten at the crease.
