India's star batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of their upcoming Asia Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka. Iyer missed the last game against Pakistan due to back spasms he picked up moments ahead of the match.
His back issue continues to create problems as he remains unavailable for India's second match in the super four stages of the continental championship.
BCCI provided an update on Shreyas' injury as it confirmed that he is yet to recover and hasn't traveled with the team for the all-important clash against Dasun Shanaka-led side.

"Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from back spasms. He has been advised to rest by the BCCI Medical Team and has not traveled with the team to the stadium today for India's Super 4 match against Sri Lanka," BCCI wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Shreyas Iyer made his return from a long injury break in the Asia Cup 2023 group-stage match against Pakistan. He scored 14 runs off nine balls in that game. Later in the group stage, Iyer didn't get to bat against Nepal as India won the match by 10 wickets.
Just a few moments before the toss of the Super Fours round match between India and Pakistan, Iyer faced a back issue. As a result, the Indian team management had to leave him out of the playing XI.
The BCCI managers, NCA staff, and team management members in Colombo have reportedly been monitoring him.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma disclosed Iyer's back issue that kept him out of the contest against Pakistan as he announced the inclusion of KL Rahul to replace him in the playing 11 at the toss.
Rahul's inclusion was decided just five minutes ago before the toss said Rohut at the post-match presentation.
"And then KL, to return from injury and then find out 5 minutes before the toss that he's playing, and to perform the way he did, it shows the mindset of the player."
Shreyas is expected to have picked up a back issue during the warm-up session at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (September 10).
He will be keen to return to full fitness soon and be available for selection for India's next match against Bangladesh on Friday (September 15). On the other hand, Rahul scored a hundred in Iyer's absence yesterday against Pakistan.
