The Asia Cup tournament was established way back in 1983 and is held every two years. India, who are the defending champions, are also the most successful team in Asia Cup cricket history, having won the title eight times.

The Asia Cup, which has been played on a rotational basis between ODI and T20I formats since 2016, will be held in the 20-over format this year, and it will work as a preparatory assignment for the T20 World Cup next year.

Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup when it was last played in the T20 format in 2022 after they beat Pakistan in the final. Only twice has the Asia Cup been played in the T20 format, and India also lifted the title in 2016. While India and Pakistan often dominate the headlines, the history of the Asia Cup in T20Is reveals an interesting fact that Pakistan, despite reaching the final twice, are yet to win a single title.

Most wins and best win percentage in Asia Cup T20Is

India leads the chart with the best record in T20I editions of the tournament, winning 8 of their 10 matches. The Men in Blue have a staggering win percentage of 80. Sri Lanka follows next, having won 6 out of 10 matches with a solid win rate of 60. Pakistan stand at an even 50%, winning five and losing five, while Bangladesh trails with three wins from seven matches at 42.85%.
