Asia Cup Trophy Row: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been in the news for all the wrong reasons again. Naqvi, who also serves as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (by virtue of rotation policy among Cricket boards), continued to harp on the same string in relation to the Asia Cup trophy incident. Naqvi, who has been labelled as a 'trophy-chor (trophy thief)' by the Indian media, has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send one of the players to receive the silverware from him in the first week of November, as per a report.
As per a report by a Pakistani journalist, Faizan Lakhani, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told India Today that the organisation has sent an email to Naqvi, asking him to hand over the trophy back to India (the winners of the Asia Cup 2025). To which Naqvi responded that BCCI should hold a ceremony in the first week of November with one of the Indian players in attendance.
“Asia Cup Trophy row: BCCI once again reached out to the ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi asking for the trophy. The ACC chief responded, suggesting a ceremony in the first week of November, “bring one of your players and receive the trophy," Lakhani posted on X.

Where Is The Asia Cup Trophy?
According to a report in PTI, the Asia Cup trophy is in the ACC office. Naqvi has instructed not to move or hand it over to anyone else without his approval.
Naqvi, who reportedly called himself a 'cartoon' during the ACC meet as no player from Team India entertained him during the post-match presentation of the Asia Cup final, has insisted that he wants to hand over the trophy to the side personally.
“As of today the trophy is still in ACC offices in Dubai with clear instructions from Naqvi that it should not be moved or handed over to anyone without his approval and in-person presence," a source close to Naqvi was quoted as saying to PTI on October 10, 2025.

“Naqvi has given clear instructions that only he will hand over the trophy in person (whenever that happens) to the Indian team or BCCI," the source added.
