Ahead of their crucial match against Australia on Friday in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, Pakistan has encountered some challenges related to player fitness. Fakhar Zaman, a key left-handed batter, will not be available for the upcoming match due to a knee injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Fakhar Zaman will not be in contention for selection until the following week. Additionally, the team's batting all-rounder, Salman Agha, was sidelined after contracting a fever during a practice session on Wednesday.

The fitness woes extend to several other players in the Pakistan squad, with six members missing the initial training session on Tuesday due to fever. This list included notable names like Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Haris, and Zaman Khan. However, with the exception of Mohammad Haris, who is still on the path to recovery, the remaining squad members managed to actively participate in the training session on Wednesday.

In contrast, the Australian team has a fitness update of their own. Travis Head, who suffered a fractured hand, has recovered quicker than initially anticipated. There is optimism that he will soon rejoin the squad in India, although he will not be available for the match against Pakistan. Instead, Head is targeting a potential return to the lineup for the match against the Netherlands on October 25.

Both teams are looking to regain their form and momentum in the tournament. Pakistan is dealing with the absence of Fakhar Zaman and the ongoing recovery of some players, while Australia is welcoming back Travis Head earlier than expected. The upcoming clash between these two cricketing powerhouses will be crucial for their World Cup campaigns, and it remains to be seen how they will navigate these challenges and deliver strong performances on the field.
