The Sri Lankan innings got off to a strong start with Kusal Perera leading the charge. He played a crucial role, scoring 78 runs from 82 balls, including 12 boundaries. However, Australia's Pat Cummins managed to break through, dismissing Perera with a well-angled delivery disturbing the stumps.
In the batting department, Sadeera Samarawickrama was out leg-before-wicket to Adam Zampa after scoring eight runs.Pathum Nissanka, on the other hand, provided a strong foundation by scoring 61 runs from 67 balls, including eight boundaries. Zampa played a crucial role for Australia, picking up two wickets.
Australia's fielding was highlighted by a spectacular catch by Warner who took two brilliant catches in the deep.
Australia have faced a challenging start to the World Cup, losing both of its previous matches against South Africa and home favourite India. In contrast, Sri Lanka has shown moments of brilliance, but in vain against South Africa and Pakistan.
Australia's struggles primarily revolve around their middle-order's inability to score and inconsistency in taking wickets during the middle overs. In contrast, Sri Lanka has successfully crossed the 300-run mark in both of their opening matches.
With a sense of urgency in the air, both teams will be eager to break free from their recent disappointing form and avoid the risk of an early exit from the tournament.
