ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Australia Schedule: Australia are in red-hot form in the ICC tournaments and will be looking to make it count in the T20 World Cup 2024 as well, having won the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup last year.
Australia already have named their squad for the marquee tournament which kicks off on June 2 in the West Indies and the USA.
Star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will be leading the Australian side which consists of a promising balance of vast experience in all the departments.
They are placed in Group B alongside the defending champions England, Namibia, Oman and Scotland. They will kick off their campaign against Oman on June 6.
The in-form and the most consistent fast bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have one more option in Nathan Ellis.
They have no shortage of impactful all-rounders including skipper Marsh who will get the support from the likes of Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell whereas Ashton Agar also offers two-dimensional brilliance.
Adam Zampa is the only leading spinner alongside Maxwell but the Aussies will have an option to use star batter Travis Head's off-spin in immense need.
Australia will be heading into the showpiece event with enormous confidence but injury concerns have hurt them in the build-up as Marsh continues to recover from his hamstring injury.
The veteran opener David Warner, who will end his international career after the T20 WC, recently had picked up a hand injury in the IPL 2024.
They made late additions of young sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short as their travelling reserves.
Australia are the former champions, having lifted the title in 2021 in UAE under Aaron Finch's captaincy as their current form makes them favourites to clinch their second T20 WC trophy.
In the last edition of the T20 World Cup that took place in Australia, the hosts failed to make it to the semi-finals, having finished third in their group.
