AUS-W vs ENG-W, Women's World Cup: Australia's campaign suffered a blow as captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of Wednesday's ICC Women's World Cup match against England due to a calf strain. Tahlia McGrath will lead the team in her place.

Australia skipper Alyssa, who had been in exceptional form with back-to-back centuries, suffered a calf injury during Saturday's training session, forcing her out of Wednesday's match.

"Yeah, obviously really unfortunate there for her with just a slight calf strain," Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke said at the pre-match press conference here on Tuesday.

With 294 runs from four innings, Healy is currently leading the run-scoring charts in the tournament. Healy has been in imperious form, displaying her match-winning ability with striking centuries against India (142) and Bangladesh (113*).

Georgia Voll is expected to open alongside Phoebe Litchfield against England.

"We've got some options. Obviously, the one is Georgia Vol that's here and has filled that role before, but we'll sit down today and probably just make sure we're getting our matchups right and come to a final decision," Nitschke added.

"But we've certainly got some depth there in our batting, so there is some opportunities outside of that move as well," Nitschke said.

Healy might also be sidelined for Australia's final group stage encounter against South Africa if she doesn't recover in time for the October 25 match.

Unbeaten Australia and England, both on nine points from five matches, are already assured of semifinal spots, with four wins and a washed-out game to their names.
