BAN vs IRE: Mushfiqur Rahim made his 100th Test special by smashing a brilliant ton in Dhaka on Thursday and became the 11th batter in the history of this format to smash a ton in his 100th Test match. Bangladesh's star wicket-keeper batter achieved this milestone in the morning session of the day against Ireland as he went past Jordan Neill on his pads and took a single and brought up his century as the fans at the stadium began celebrating.
He was unbeaten at 99 on day 2 and batted calmly as he played a whole over and, after three balls, brought up his ton. The Irish bowlers began the day by bowling brilliantly as Neill was brought back into the attack and Matt Humphreys continued from the other end, after taking a sharp turn on the first day. Litton Das then took a single on the first ball of the 91st over, and Rahim took the strike. Neill had bowled a brilliant delivery.
He gave the visitors the much-needed breakthrough. Neill had bowled a fuller delivery towards Rahim's pads, and the star batter calmly smashed towards square leg and brought up his ton. The fans were seen giving him a standing ovation.
With this hundred, he has joined an elite players like Colin Cowdrey, Javed Miandad, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Joe Root, and David Warner, who had achieved this milestone in their 100th Test match.

The host started the day at 292/4, where Rahim and Das were out there in the middle. The visitors tried to bounce back in the first session of day 2, where Andy McBrine and Humphreys tried to produce natural variation. And once he was settled, the host took control of the innings.
Since the hosts are aiming to extend their total, Rahim's feat is one of the highlights of the game till now, and it's proof of his longevity and the role in Bangladesh's rise in this format.
