BAN vs NEP, 2024 T20 World Cup: Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane has become the second fastest bowler to have achieved the milestone of having 100 wickets in T20I. He achieved this milestone in their 2024 T20 World Cup group stage match against Bangladesh in St. Vincent on Monday. He achieved this milestone while playing in his 54th match and is just behind Rashid Khan, who also achieved this milestone in his 54th match.

Lamichhane also scripted history as he became the first Nepalese bowler to have achieved this milestone. He didn’t feature in their group-stage matches against the USA as he was denied a visa twice. He played in the West Indies leg and has been in sublime form. He went wicketless against South Africa but was economical.

Sandeep Lamichhane rattles Bangladesh

Lamichhane shone brilliantly in their group-stage match against Bangladesh as he registered figures of 4-1-17-2. He dismissed Tanzim Hasan Sakib in his first over. Then he soon took the wicket of Jakir Ali Anik and scripted history. It should be noted here that Bangladesh batters found it hard to play against him. On the back of his fiery spell, Nepal skittled Bangladesh out for 106 runs in 19.3 overs.

Besides Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Rohit Paudel took two wickets each. Seven Bangladesh batters scored in double digits but couldn’t convert their starts. Shakib al Hasan was the highest run-getter, as he scored 17 runs off 22 balls.
