Bangladesh vs New Zealand 1st Test: Bangladesh are on the verge of getting all out against New Zealand in the first Test but have a wicket in hand at the end of the first day on Tuesday, November.

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium witnessed a promising battle between the bat and the ball with Bangladesh doing well in terms of getting runs but couldn't resist the fall of wickets.

Bangladesh will have an all-out score roaming overhead early in the second day which can put them behind in the game if the Blackcaps manage to capitalise with the bat as well.

Glenn Phillips was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he ended the day with four wickets for 53 runs.

He got promising support from Kyle Jamieson and Ajaz Patel who took two wickets each with Ish Sodhi picking up a wicket as well.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top run-getter for his side as he scored 86 runs in 166 deliveries on the back of 11 boundaries.

Bangladesh suffered the first blow for 39 when Zakir Hasan was dismissed by Ajaz Patel for just 12 runs but Mahmudul kept going from the other end.

He stitched a 53-run partnership with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto before the latter's dismissal for 37 runs.

Najmul was looking in great touch and was going at the strike rate of more than 100, scoring 37 runs in 35 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes before getting dismissed by Glenn Phillips.

Mahmudul put up another remarkable partnership, this time an 88-run stand for the third wicket with Mominul Haque.

The duo was well set to go big and take Bangladesh's innings forward before Phillips struck again for his second wicket of the inning, dismissing Mominul for 37 runs.

Bangladesh were quick to lose another wicket as Mahmudul missed out on his second Test century, getting dismissed for 86 runs in 166 balls by Ish Sodhi.

The hosts managed to get runs at a promising rate but kept losing wickets at regular intervals as well.

Mushfiqur Rahim (12), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (20), Shahadat Hossain (24), and Nurul Hasan (29) were the next batters to depart who all got starts but failed to convert their respective into big ones.

Naeem Hasan was the last casualty for Bangladesh who was dismissed by Jamieson for 16 runs before Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam joined each other at the crease.

The duo did well with a crucial 20-run partnership for the 10th wicket, making sure that Bangladesh ended the day with bat in hand.

Shoriful remains unbeaten at the crease with 13 runs under his belt in just eight balls with the help of three boundaries whereas Taijul has scored eight runs in 21 deliveries, having struck a four.

New Zealand will look to wrap up Bangladesh's innings as soon as possible without leaking too many runs while the hosts have nothing to lose with already nine down and a few runs will only benefit them going forward in the match.
