BAN vs WI 3rd ODI: Bangladesh had put up a brilliant performance and defeated West Indies by 179 runs in the third ODI, and had won their first series since March last year. Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar stitched a match-winning partnership of 176 runs for the first wicket and helped the hosts post a mammoth target of 296 runs. While chasing, the West Indies were skittled out for just 117 runs.

Rishad Hossain was the pick among the bowlers as he had taken a three-wicket haul, and his overall tally in this series was 12, and he had become the first Bangladeshi bowler to take more than 10 wickets in a bilateral series after 2015. Nasum Ahmed also took three wickets, whereas Tanvir Islam registered match-winning figures of 8-0-16-2.

Bangladesh's openers began playing offensively from the beginning on a spin-friendly pitch. Saif and Sarkar took the Bangladeshi bowlers to the cleaners and built their second-highest partnership in this format and also their first hundred partnership in the last 10 years.

Saif had hit Akeal Hossein for two fours in the first over and then had smashed a six in the next over. Sarkar then hit Roston Chase for two reverse-hit sixes. Saif then played a brilliant shot as the ball went towards the covers in Greaves over.

The Bangladesh batters continued to hit fours. Saif scored his first half-century and brought up the team's 100-run partnership for the first wicket. On the other hand, Sarkar played precisely as he had hit Motie for a six and a four after getting out on 91 runs and fell short of his 4th ton.

The other batters failed to fire. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy built a partnership of 50 runs for the third wicket, where Shanto was dismissed by Alick Athanaze on the next ball. The West Indies spinners did put up a late fight, but the host had posted a mammoth target of 296 runs, which also includes 14 sixes.

The visitors never really got going while chasing. Nasum first took Alick Athanaze and Ackeem Auguste wickets by lbw in the fifth over. Shai Hope had faced just 4 balls, and Tanvir Islam took his wicket, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz then took Rutherford's wicket. Rishad then took the wicket of Chase for a duck and had trapped Motie, which made the visitors succumb against a brilliant spin attack.

Since this series was leveled at 1-1, the hot's brilliant win the third match helped them win the series by 2-1.
