The BCCI faced heavy criticism from the fans due to the lack of live coverage of the quarterfinals of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025.

The board clarified that the telecast of the Duleep Trophy final is going to take place. Notably, the summit clash of India's elite domestic competition is scheduled to be played from September 11 to 15 at the BCCI's CEG Ground in CoE.

"There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecast of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our domestic tournaments are covered live. The BCCI gives utmost importance to domestic cricket, which is why you will see that almost all the Indian players are in action in these matches," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted by the T20I as saying.

The Indian cricket team hasn't been in action since the recently concluded England tour, and despite that, there was no live coverage of the much-awaited Duleep Trophy. Netizens were quick to take to social media to slam the BCCI for the same. Notably, the Duleep Trophy kicked off the two quarterfinals being played simultaneously from Thursday, with North Zone playing against East Zone, while Central Zone took on North East Zone.

This edition of the Duleep Trophy, which features the participation of several Indian players, welcomed the traditional zonal format after last year's switch to India A, B, C and D teams.

North Zone enters Duleep Trophy semis as Badoni hits double ton

On the back of a remarkable double century from young batter Ayush Badoni, North Zone comfortably made it to the Duleep Trophy semifinals on the basis of a first innings lead as their quarterfinal match against East Zone expectedly petered into a draw on the fourth and final day on Sunday.

Resuming their innings from the overnight score of 388/2, North Zone continued the domination with the bat and ended up scoring 658/4 for a mammoth lead of 833 runs before both teams shook hands for a draw.
Badoni (204 off 223 balls) and Kanhaiya Wadhawan (23) remained not out.

Skipper Ankit Kumar explained the decision to keep on batting despite having a chance to press for an outright victory.

"If we wanted, we could have gone for the result because we had the upper hand. But we didn't try because we were in the lead in the first innings. We did very well batting in the first innings and then bowling," said North Zone captain Ankit.

"We also wanted to keep Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana as fresh as possible (ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup.) But we made some wrong decisions that we couldn't click in the batting in the first innings. Otherwise, we could have taken even more upper hand in the first innings."
