The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) lost its blue tick verification on its X (formerly known as Twitter) account as a follow-up to the change of their display picture on the social media platform on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign ahead of India's 77th Independence Day as he invited residents to display the Indian flag on their social media profiles.
The BCCI honored the request by changing its profile image to the tricolor, following the campaign but lost the blue tick on the profile.
According to the revised guidelines for the social-media website, the blue tick will disappear for a verified account each time the display picture is changed. And it only takes three to four days to restore after a quick review of the account on X.
Notably, the grey tick that has been assigned on the platform for the users representing a government/multilateral organisation or a government/multilateral official, wasn't removed from PM Modi's account after he changed his display picture to that of an Indian flag.
The action on BCCI's account was witnessed ahead of India's fifth and final T20I match against West Indies as both teams aimed for a win in the five-match series.
The Men in Blue have had a promising tour to the Caribbean, having already clinched the Test and ODI series with youngsters putting up effective performances across formats.
BCCI is likely to regain the blue tick before the start of the Indian team's final white-ball assignment before the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
India will next be up against Ireland for a three-match T20I series where Jasprit Bumrah will be a leading side without the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or Hardik Pandya.
