Viacom 18 has won the media rights for India's home international matches for the 2023-27 cycle from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, August 31.

Viacom 18 will now telecast all domestic and home matches, a total number of 88 games over the course of five years in an agreement that concludes in March 2028 and commences with a three-match ODI series against Australia at the end of September.

The new broadcaster agreed to shell out a price of INR 67.8 crore per game, making it an overall deal of Rs 5966.4 crore for five years. The final number is approximately Rs 7.8 crore higher than the price of the last cycle's value and fulfills the BCCI's condition that the overall value exceeds Rs 60 crore.

Earlier this month, the BCCI officially released the tender invites from reputed entities regarding the media rights for the BCCI international and domestic matches.

Sports18 will then telecast the matches, international and domestic, on TV while it will be live-streamed on JioCinema as an OTT (over-the-top) platform.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced the new entrant on social media.

"Congratulations @viacom18 for winning the @BCCI Media Rights for both linear and digital for the next 5 years. India Cricket will continue to grow in both spaces as after @IPL, and @wplt20, we extend the partnership @BCCI Media Rights as well. Together we will continue to capture the imagination of Indian cricket fans," he wrote on X.

He also thanked the outgoing broadcaster Star India for its support over the years.

"Also a big thank you to @starindia @DisneyPlusHS for your support over the years. You played a key role in making India Cricket reach its fans across the globe."

Viacom 18 has now bagged the three properties from the BCCI. It had previously won the digital rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and linear and digital properties of the Women's Premier League (WPL).
