BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been reported to have met with India head coach Rahul Dravid in Miami during the T20I series against West Indies.

The special meeting is assumed to have been conducted regarding the major discussions over important tournaments including the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, the meeting was held ahead of the final two T20Is of the five-match series which India lost 2-3. The 4th and 5th T20Is were held in Florida.

The report further claimed that Shah was in the United States for a personal visit and may have held discussions with the Indian head coach regarding the planning for the marquee tournaments.

The meeting takes place on the backdrop of Men in Blue's disappointing performance which has led to heavy criticism due to poor results.

Shah has been clear about the BCCI's strong desire to win the World Cup, which takes place in a few weeks at home.

Amid all the criticism, several questions have been raised about Dravid’s performance as a coach. In bilaterals, India remain a dominant side but in the multi-nation events, they have been underwhelming.

Former players and experts like Sunil Gavaskar, Venkatesh Prasad, and Wasim Jaffer have been critical of the team’s performance during the West Indies series where questions over team selection and utilisation of bowlers were raised.

Venkatesh expressed his disappointment with Dravid's leadership and pointed out the team's performance as ‘very ordinary’ in white-ball cricket for some time.

Bumrah will be leading a young squad featuring the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Tilak Varma among others with Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy.

After the T20Is, India will be organising a camp in Bengaluru in the lead-up to the Asia Cup.
