BCCI's Apex Council Meeting: The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) apex council is set to convene on December 22 for its Annual General Meeting, where a crucial revision of central contracts is scheduled for discussion. The high-profile check will concentrate on the status of Indian cricket's biggest stars, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Additionally, the contracts of women players in domestic cricket will also come under consideration, marking a significant step towards encouraging and rewarding their contributions to Indian cricket.
According to news agency PTI, "the 31st AGM of the apex council will be held online, where decisions are expected on the contracts of Kohli and Rohit, both of whom have retired from Tests and T20Is over the past year and now feature only in ODI cricket."
India's Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is likely to join the elite A+ category, a place he will share with veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, recently appointed vice-captain for the Test series and ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
"Among other matters, a revision in payments for umpires and match referees, along with an update on the board's digital properties, will also be discussed," the PTI report further stated.
It will be the first AGM of the apex council since changes among officials in the BCCI, as in September, Mithun Manhas assumed the presidency, while Raghuram Bhatt took the reins as treasurer.
Additionally, Devajit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia were designated as secretary and joint secretary, respectively.
The board's last elections also witnessed Saurashtra Cricket Association's president Jaydev Shah coming on board as a councillor.
