England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes recently decided to make a sensational decision as he reversed his retirement from ODI cricket and made himself available for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named a provisional 15-member squad of the defending champions in which they included Stokes who returns to the side after a year.
The 32-year-old Stokes, who played a massive role in England's maiden World Cup triumph, isn't the first or the last cricketer to withdraw his retirement to play again for his country.
Here's a look at the few popular cricketers to have reversed their retirement decision to play again for their country.
Ben Stokes
The current and one of the most famous withdrawal of retirement has been done by England's Test captain Ben Stokes as he makes his way back to England's ODI side. Stokes made a shocking announcement when he decided to retire from the particular format last year citing the workload he was experiencing while playing all three formats.
However, he reversed his decision and made himself available for the upcoming mega event in India with England set to defend their World Cup title.
Stokes was the hero for helping his team win the World Cup in 2019 at home as he remained unbeaten on 84 to keep his team in the game which they went on to win by defeating New Zealand in the final.
