DC vs MI WPL 2025: The WPL 2025 started with a bang, as the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals became a nail-biting thriller. DC defeated MI by a narrow margin as the last ball run-out decision went in Delhi's favor and thus helped them win the match. They had a flying start owing to Shafali Varma's quickfire knock and then Niki Prasad and Sarah Bryce helped the team win the match by two wickets. But the match did have its fair share of controversies as a few fans on social media reckoned that the run-out decision should have gone in Mumbai's favor.
While chasing a respectable target of 165 runs, the Meg Lanning-led side was reeling at 109/5 in 14.5 overs even though a 60-run partnership was stitched for the first wicket. But Niki Prasad and Sarah Bryce then took it 10 runs per over, even though the team suffered a batting collapse. When they needed just two runs to win the match on the last ball, Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav took a risky double and that grabbed everyone's attention.
Arundhati had smashed the ball towards the off-side and the ball went towards the fielder, who was standing inside the circle. MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was seen running towards the ball and threw it directly towards the wicket-keeper's end. Arundhati then dove to complete the double but the Zing bails were already lit even before the bat was completely inside the crease.

Earlier, the batter did get dismissed, when the bails were removed from the stumps but according to this tournament, the lit-up zing bails emphasize that there is no contact between the bails and the stumps. And this was why the batter was given not out.
As per the rule, "Where LED Wickets are used (as provided for in paragraph 3.8.1.5), the moment at which the wicket has been put down (as per clause 29.1) shall be deemed to be the first frame in which the LED lights are illuminated and subsequent frames show the bail permanently removed from the top of the stumps."
Post-match, Parth Jindal, the co-owner of Delhi Capitals, was seen expressing his gratitude to the third umpire for being calm while making such a tough decision.
Irrespective of the result in the ongoing WPL i must applaud the 3rd umpire who is absolutely world class - to make that kind of decision and to take the replay so many frames back under so much pressure is world class @wplt20 @DelhiCapitals

And that's why Arundhati was given not-out and as a result, Delhi won the match by two wickets.
