Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be taking on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28 (today).

MS Dhoni-led side will be playing their record 10th title-decisive clash in the history of the tournament while defending champions Gujarat are set to feature in the second successive final after making their league debut last year.

CSK will be chasing their fifth IPL title to equal Mumbai Indians (MI) who are currently the team with the most league titles. Titans, on the other hand, will be eyeing the silverware to equal Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) record of two IPL titles as the Hardik Pandya's side has been the most consistent team throughout the season just like they were in 2022.

Chennai are coming off a convincing win which they took against Gujarat itself in Qualifier 1 whereas Gujarat will be high on confidence after thrashing the in-form Mumbai Indians in the second Qualifier on Friday.

The Qualifier 2 between Gujarat and Mumbai took place in the same venue where the match was delayed by 45 minutes due to rain interruption. The match started at 8 PM and showed a bit of low bounce in the first few overs due to the dampness on the wicket.

With the high-voltage clash set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium again, everyone will be hoping for good weather conditions.

Pitch Report

The wicket at the Narendra Modi Stadium has proved to be a batting-friendly one so far this season with a little help for the new ball bowlers as well. The average score batting first in the IPL at this venue is 171 and batting second is 156.

The average score while batting first in the year 2023 has been 193.

The teams chasing the total in the IPL 2023 have won three out of eight matches played while the other five have been clinched by the teams defending the total.

In the last match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the hosts Gujarat Titans put up a mammoth total of 234, thanks to the stunning batting performance from Shubman Gill who smashed his third century of this IPL season.

Mohit Sharma was the star with the ball as he took five wickets to restrict Mumbai to 171 with Suryakumar Yadav scoring a fifty as well but went on to end up on the losing side.

As per recent history, the teams batting second or the teams chasing have had similar kinds of success but it is expected that the captain may prefer to bat first in the decisive clash as the last five matches have ended up in the favor of the teams batting first.
