Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings IPL Records and Stats: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) (formerly known as Royal Challengers Bangalore) in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Chepauk on Friday, March 22.

CSK will be heading into the 17th edition of the tournament as the defending champions, having lifted their record-equaling fifth title last year after defeating Gujarat Titans in the final.

The five-time champions made a massive change in their setup ahead of the tournament opener as they announced Ruturaj Gaikwad as their new skipper after MS Dhoni decided to step down from the role.

On the other hand, RCB will be aiming to break CSK's winning streak at home considering the inexperience in Gaikwad's leadership skills.

However, Gaikwad expressed his excitement about the new role. "Nothing much to worry, just looking forward to enjoy it,” he said.

Having beaten the Faf du Plessis-led side in their backyard last season, CSK will go into the contest with impressive confidence.

Despite the injuries to a few key players, CSK will have a chance to take advantage of their home venue and beat RCB for the eighth time in a row at Chepauk.

CSK have a remarkable overall record as well against RCB and will be looking to maintain that with the slow-turning track mostly favouring the home side.
